On June 17, 2022, many San Diegans came to support our effort in making Ukraine WOW again. Fundraising event organized by a cooperation of High Tech High International 9th grade students and non-profit organization Help Ukraine Now took place at South Promenade in Liberty Station on a beautiful Friday night. The goal for the fundraiser was to raise $22 000 for food and medical supplies to be delivered to the most affected areas in Ukraine and was set by the 9th graders from HTHI. The students took active part in organizing the whole event and included talking to businesses, creating workshops like “Motanka”, face painting, embroidery, creating art for auction and for sale, and much more.
In a common effort of around 300 attendees, we managed to raise $9660. Even though we did not raise the aimed amount, we are more than satisfied with the impact we are able to make with the funds donated to us. We will update you on each step of us delivering the help to Ukraine as one of the co-founders Viktoriia Simakova is traveling to Ukraine herself to make sure the donated funds are spent in the best way possible.
